Erik was born in Namur, he started his saxophone training at the music school in Florennes and after that he went to the Conservatoire de Namur. In 2007, he decided to start a professionalizing process under the teaching of Michel Mergny and Simon Diricq at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons. At the same time, he was perfecting his academic training at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Saint-Quentin in Aisne (France) where he studied under Grégory Letombe and he obtained his DEM (Diplôme d’études musicales). In 2014, he achieved a Master’s Degree specializing in saxophone under Alain Crepin and Simon Diricq at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.
Erik was a laureate in the Adolphe Sax International Competition; he also achieved the first place in the Dexia Classics Contest in 2007 and he obtained the third place in Ukraine International Saxophone Competition in 2013. He has played solo at the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie and he has also played at la Maison de la Poésie de Namur. He is member of many different ensembles of chamber music where he is a specialist in alto and tenor saxophones.
Erik is a teaching enthusiast and he shares his passion in the intercommunity schools of Crécy-sur-Serre and Vervins (France) as well as in the Académie de Braine-l’Alleud where he is a saxophone teacher.
